Final GDD 200 Project: RollOn

Link to Game: http://www.kongregate.com/games/dholguin93/rollon
Title of game: RollOn
Game Description: The user explores three different levels where the user must collect all of the cubes in order to beat the level. After the first level, the user's ball takes on the affects as if it were in outer space, causing the user to be very wary of their jumping. Also the last two levels are comprised of terrain based maps where the user must navigate through the terrain and collect the cubes.
Game Instructions: The user controls the ball through the w (forward) s (backward) a (left) d (right) or the arrow keys. To restart a level, you simply type the number of the level ( level one - 1, level two - 2, and level three - 3). This could also be used to simply skipped the level if the difficulty proves unbearable for the player.
Category: Puzzle

Level Breakdown:
The first level is made up of a maze of blocks with cubes the player must collect. This may seem like an easy level to maneuver through but the my first level proves to be one of the more difficult levels in RollOn.  There is a total of 14 cubes the player must collect in order to beat this level and proceed to the next.

The second level presents the user with the first terrain based level with less difficulty than the previous level. The user must collect all of the 21 cubes in this level in order to accomplish the proceed to the final level. One of the first obstacles the user must overcome in this level is balancing the space like physics of the jump action.
The final level challenges the user to once again balance the jump physics of the user in the mountain based terrain level. In this level the user must collect the 11 cubes in order to beat this game. The location of the cubes forces the user to use the mountains to help him in the collection of the cubes.

Final Week

Over the past three weeks, Eric and I found that i had accidentally made projects within projects which led to me losing out on my 2nd and 3rd level. Over a week due to trying to make some levels so i can complete the game before finals. I was able to succeed and make my 2nd and 3rd levels with the limited use of only roll a ball a tidy tile mapper.

Here are some screenshots of the levels
Here is my first level, being a roll a ball maze.

This is my second level of roll a ball.

Tidy TileMapper-Phase1

This is a screenshot of a snow textured i created for my map. The angle i took the shot doesn't really capture that i have walls, but they're there.

This is an overview of the map. As you can see, the map will take a while and might even expand depending on how quickly i build it out.

Week 5 - Final 2D RPG Starter Kit

Plot of the Game
The plot of the game is when the User is needed to regain a foothold in the west of the town. The User begins the game with a Guard in the player’s house informing him to head north and speaks to the mayor. The player is then informed about heading to the west of the town and killing the three master blobs found in the foothold. After killing the blobs, the player travels to the next door where the User is transported to a screen where the informing the player that the game is completed.

This User is told to head north to meet with the mayor.

In case the user is lost about controls, i placed two guards informing the user that the spacebar is used to attack enemies.

This is the desert area, where the user must fight through a few enemies to reach the mayors house.
This is an overview image of the town i made for the mayor. It has a private blacksmith where the User can restock before heading back to the town.

The user is then told by the mayor that the town needs his help and to head west of your town and kill the three master blobs.

This is an overview of the other monster area where the User will fight through enemies to gain passage to the lost foothold.
This is the first level where you must fight through some enemies and defeat the blobs.

This is the final boss scene, where the User must defeat the monster blobs. Once completed, the User will travel through the opposing door where he will be redirected.
This is the conclusion of the game. It thanks the User for playing and gives credit to Unity and the developer.

Week 4 Assignment

New Scene
Here is a new town i made, which will provide the first quest

Layout for my game
The story of the game consists of a Great Danger that is found in the Rock Mountains, where local villagers have ventured to find riches. Unfortunately, none of these curious villagers return, which makes people worried about their safety. Your character is then asked (YOU MUST!) by the mayor to somehow find out what happened to these lost villagers, since the villagers are to afraid to continue their daily activities and supply the town with supplies.

The plot of the game will be broken down into three significant portions; the location of the four keys, finding the hidden shield, and ultimately defeating the three bosses’. The four keys will be found north, south, east, and west of the town. The shield will be found a secret room that will be located in one of the scenes (not yet determined) and will be very helpful when fighting the boss’s. The boss’s will be broken down into warrior, mage, and archer; with each only dealing damage with weapons within their classes (warrior can only take damage from swords, and etc.).

In terms of artwork, I grabbed a few examples from a site I found during last semester, which held great looking pixel art characters (posted below).

I wanted to try to import the idea of traps, with some being noticeable and others not. My idea of a noticeable trap within my game is a prefab attached to a wall that shoots out balls that consist of fire. Some ideas of unnoticeable traps are hard to see how in the ground where spikes attack when stepped upon, and some sort of “poison” fake looking health potion which surface throughout your journey.
